This map was presumably issued in1945 (information provided by the seller) as a large area bounded by Aldersgate, Cheapside and Moorgate is marked 'Approximate Area Destroyed by Enemy Action 1940-1941'.
It is interesting that Alexander Gross (aka Alexander Grosz, 1879-1958) founded the Geographia Ltd in the early 1900s and the company was eventually absorbed into Collins Bartholomew, the cartographic division of HarperCollins in the late 1980s. Her daughter Phyllis Pearsall founded the Geographers' Map Company Ltd in 1935/6. If as the cover wrapper states 'Produced by Alexander Gross F.R.G.S.) and this map was issued around 1945, Gross possibly worked for her daughter as the Geographia probably went bankrupt.
